Bio

Stephanie Robertson, a native of Goshen, Alabama, is completing her eleventh year as Assistant Director of Bands at Daleville High School. Mrs. Robertson has previously taught in the Sumter County School System in Americus, Georgia. While in Americus, Mrs. Robertson was the music teacher and choir director for Sumter County Elementary School and served as the woodwind instructor at Americus-Sumter High School – South campus. Her principal instrument is clarinet, but she has ensemble experience in violin, string bass, and viola.

Mrs. Robertson graduated summa cum laude from Troy University in the Spring of 2006 with a Bachelor’s of Music Education degree with an emphasis in instrumental music education. While at Troy, Mrs. Robertson was honored to serve as the president of the nationally renowned “Sound of the South” marching and concert bands, as well as clarinet section leader. She participated in many ensembles at the university level, which included the Symphony Band, “Backcourt Posse,” Chamber Winds, and the Concert Band.

Mrs. Robertson was a member of several professional organizations including Sigma Alpha Iota women’s music fraternity, CMENC, Kappa Delta Pi, Phi Kappa Phi, Gamma Beta Pi, and the International Student Cultural Organization. She is listed in Who’s Who Among American College Students and received both a school of music scholarship and the coveted “Millennium Scholarship,” a full tuition, room, and board scholarship to Troy. She received the “Sword of Honor” for service to her fraternity and the John M. Long Achievement Award from the Kappa Kappa Psi alumni association.

In high school, Mrs. Robertson was dually enrolled in Troy University and Goshen High School through the Global Studies Academy sponsored by the Troy City and Pike County School Systems. While in high school, Mrs. Robertson participated in cheerleading, softball, and basketball in addition to music ensembles. Mrs. Robertson was an Alabama All-State band member for three years and was also accepted into many honor bands, such as the Tri-State Honor Band at Florida State University. She received the Semper Fidelis Award for Musical Excellence from the United States Marines Youth Foundation and the John Phillip Sousa Award from Goshen High School. Before graduation, she was named Miss Goshen 2002.

Her current professional organizations include the Alabama Music Educator’s Association, Alabama Bandmaster’s Association, and the National Education Association.

Mrs. Robertson enjoys being active musically in the community and has performed with the Outback Pickers (a county/western/bluegrass group), Southern strings, and the Troy Symphony Orchestra. In her free time, she enjoys performing in pick-up groups on her fiddle, reading, and running.
